Lely Resort has multiple courses and a large membership that plays through the season, which makes it one of the more concentrated sources of golf-related work in the county.
The seasonal injury curve
The pattern repeats everywhere in Naples and it is especially visible in a resort community. Play jumps from almost nothing over the summer to several rounds a week from November. Around six to eight weeks in, the complaints start: lower back, lead hip, lead shoulder.
None of that is bad luck. It is a body being asked to perform the same rotational movement several hundred more times a week than it has all year, usually while carrying a restriction it has been compensating for.
The version of this that gets fixed properly is the one caught before the season. A TPI assessment in October costs $350 and tends to change the whole winter. Treating the same problem in January costs more and eats into the season you came here for.
Walking volume
Resort courses are long, and members who walk rather than ride accumulate serious weekly mileage. That exposes feet, ankles and knees in a way that a range assessment never shows, and it is one of the reasons we prefer to do at least part of an assessment on the course where that is practical.
